Grants to Fund Blues Museum Expansion
(December 4, 2008)
Clarksdale, MS -- The Delta Blues Museum plans a 4,000 square foot expansion to provide space for large exhibits. Museum director Shelly Ritter says $1.8 million in grants have been secured to pay for the expansion. Ritter hopes that bids can be accepted next summer after all architectural drawings are completed and approved. Ritter says the permanent Muddy Water's cabin exhibit is also expected to move into the expansion where it can be erected to its actual height. Right now, the top section of the cabin is not included, as the ceiling height of the museum is too low.
