Our first visit to the Delta was 2004 to the Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Fest. Loved everything about it! We've probably been back at least once each year for various festivals and events.
I had the good fortune to actually win the festival t-shirt design in 2004! My design was used on front of shirt and Super Chikan, Big Jack Johnson and Sam Carr on back.
Met many wonderful folks. Rat and Joyce at Riverside, Roger Stolle, Sarah of Sarah's Kitchen, Red at Red's Lounge, the good folks of Sunflower Blues Society and many more. 2004 was unseasonably cool. Actually had to go purchase sweatshirts to sit out and see the great Latimore that night! Also the gospel was great. Don't miss it. We also took some time to tour around locally a little bit. Drove out to Tutwiller for visit to Sonny Boy Williamson grave site.
Like always, we're eager to return.
