The 9th annual Juke Joint Festival has been dedicated the "Honeyboy Edwards Memorial Edition". David "Honeyboy" Edwards regularly performed three shows during the weekend festivities which included the Delta Blues Museum, Cat Head blues store and the Juke Joint Festival itself. While honoring Honeyboy Edwards passing August 29th 2011 at the age of 96, the festival also honors all the other Clarksdale blues players and supporters that have passed away during the previous year.

In 2011, the Juke Joint Festival celebrated the 100th birthday of blues icon Robert Johnson with "100 Acts for 100 Years", which featured 100 blues act during the festival weekend. The program went so amazingly well, that it will again be featured at the 2012 Juke Joint Festival.

The Juke Joint Festival will kick-off on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Delta Cinema lobby and stage. There will be a festival poster signing with artist Cristen Barnard and free live blues at 6:00pm in the lobby, with headliners at 7:00pm on the theater stage. The Delta Cinema event is sponsored by Clarksdale Revitalization, Inc.

The Delta Blues Museum will be hosting events during the festival weekend.

Join us on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Arts & Education room at the museum for "Conversations with Big George Brock & Louis 'Gearshifter' Youngblood".

Then stop back by on Saturday at noon for live performances on the Delta Blues Museum Stage.

The Festival is a combined "blues festival" meets "small town fair", which creates a fun, memorable, blues educational event. Attendees are able to interact with local townsfolk and blues musicians while enjoying numerous performances, , childrens events, viewing exhibits and presentations involving music, art, storytelling and film.

Saturday daytime events are all FREE, while the nighttime events is only the cost of a $15 wristband. With the wristband, you receive unlimited blues shuttle bus rides and entry to nearly 20 "juke joint" venues.
