The Great Migration Curriculum

The Delta Blues Museum is pleased to
offer a workshop on The Great Migration on Saturday, November
05, 2016 and the opportunity for teachers to earn .7 CEU's.
The fee for registration is $25. Workshop fee includes
lunch, snacks and CEU's.
Sessions will include an overview of the Mississippi Blues Trail Curriculum and the lesson plan on "Cotton" presented by Scott Barretta; an overview of the Delta Blues Museum's educational offerings including the Explore and Learn series and the traveling trunk with Museum Director Shelley Ritter; a tour of the Delta Blues Museum with Group Tour Manager Maie Smith; a first-hand account of how things were from musician Josh "Razorblade" Stewart; and an overview of how to implement these resources in the classroom by Joey Young. Attendees will learn how to draw upon their existing knowledge of music to find corollaries in terms of music and expressing emotion, technology and music, how music reflects gender roles. They will also have the opportunity to write their own blues song.
Registration will open at 8:15am.
Presentations will be given in the Delta Blues Museum at #1
Blues Alley beginning at 9:00am and ending at 4:00pm with
lunch included. Educators wishing to earn
CEU's must register on or before the day of the event, pay
the fee and complete an evaluation form. Applications
will be processed after these steps are completed and teachers
will receive .7 CEU credits. Workshop fee includes lunch,
snacks and CEU's.
