Delta Blues
Press Release
August 16, 2013
CLARKSDALE, MS (August 16, 2013) -
The Delta Blues Museum is
partnering with Cathead Vodka,
Mississippi's first legal
distillery, on a new, limited edition series that will directly
benefit the Museum's DEEPER
ROOTS campaign. The special "For Mississippi
Only" series hits store shelves this week and features 750mL
bottles with special Delta Blues Museum guitar pick hang tags
and labeling. Of the corporate partnership, Cathead Distillery
Partner and Co-Founder Austin Evans offers, "The Delta
Blues Museum honors what is unique about Mississippi through
its preservation and presentation of the Delta's musical history,
a legacy that has changed popular music around the world.
As fellow Mississippians who are dedicated to the singular
culture of our state, we are proud to support the Museum and
its mission. We hope everyone will join us in supporting the
Delta Blues Museum's 'Deeper Roots' campaign to expand the
exhibits in its new Muddy Waters Addition."
The current DEEPER
ROOTS campaign seeks $1.2 million for new and enhanced
exhibits for Phase II of the Museum's expansion -- which
includes the new Muddy Waters Addition -- enabling
the cultural organization to better preserve and display
the history and work of Blues artists from the Mississippi
Delta, and advancing the Museum's ability to "tell" stories
that inspire and educate future generations about this important
American art form. Cathead Vodka is the first corporate
partner to support the ongoing campaign. Museum Director
Shelley Ritter says, "Delta Blues Museum is thrilled
to have Cathead Vodka's support as we work to fully realize
our mission and vision through expanded exhibits and educational
materials. It's fitting that Mississippi's first distillery
is supporting Mississippi's oldest music museum."
The limited edition series
is on sale statewide beginning this week.
