Acoustic Africa: From Mali to Mississippi Welcoming reception

Come by the Museum and welcome this touring group to Clarksdale. The band includes Habib Koite, the Malian superstar, and Afei Bocoum, guitarist, singer, and composer. They will be performing on Thursday April 14, 2011 at 7:00 pm, at Coahoma Community College. The performance is free.

All Day: Visit the DBM booth on Delta Avenue,near Ground Zero Blues Club, and sign up to win a DBM membership package: DBM tee shirt and cap, Friend of Museum status, and a subscription to the DBM Newsletter. The winner of the package will be announced at 4 pm from the DBM stage, immediately after the performance by the DBM Blues Band. Learn about the new Muddy Waters Addition to the Museum.

Sunday April 17 Delta Blues Museum, Special Hours Noon - 4 PM

From Clarksdale to Kansas City, Vol. 1, the CD recorded by the Delta Museum Blues Band, will be on sale at the Museum during Juke Joint Festival. It features musicians and instructors from the Museum classes along with guest appearances by Charlie Musselwhite, Bill Abel, and other local musicians. $10 for 12 tracks!

The Delta Blues Museum is located at #1 Blues Alley Lane in downtown Clarksdale. The museum is open Monday through Saturday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. For more information, call the museum at 662-627-6820 or visit the DBM Web site.
