2014 NAHYP AWARD CEREMONY

DBM Student Band Performs at White House Awards Ceremony

Hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama

Sharing this exclusive information with you because of your interest and support of the Delta Blues Museum: In just a few minutes, five students from the Delta Blues Museum Band will accept the 2014 National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Award for the Delta Blues Museum. We will be presented the award at the White House by First Lady Michelle Obama and members of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.

Additionally, the Delta Blues Museum Band will be performing at the White House event. This is the second time the DBM Band has performed at the White House. Mr. Johnnie Billington took the students up during the Clinton administration, and our program is an extension of his "Blues Academy" (run from his auto shop). It is a true testament to the late Mr. Billington's legacy, vision and instruction that our program is one of twelve winners of the 2014 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award.

Please join us at 2:00pm Eastern at the White House by clicking this link to the live streaming of the award ceremony and their performance.
