"Teenie" Hodges started playing the guitar
at the age of 12 with his music tutelege beginning in the early
60's, when he was just a teenager. He met Memphis trumpeter and band leader Willie Mitchell, who started giving him lessons and later moved in with Mitchell.
In 1965, Teenie was made a full member of Willie Mitchell's band Hi Rhythm. After touring, they then concentrated on being a studio band and working in the Hi Records studio.
By the mid 70's, Hi Rhythm had reached its peak after garnering number gold and plantinum albums.
In 2008 a documentary was created titled "Mabon 'Teenie' Hodges: A Portrait of A Memphis Soul Original". The documentary of Teenie's life was authored by Susanna Vapnek and received raves at multiple film screenings, including a showing at the 2013 Memphis Film Festival.
