Delta Blues Museum Hosts "A Blue Christmas"

Everyone is invited to attend the Delta Blues Museum's "Blue Christmas" Open House
Thursday, December 10th from 6-8 p.m.

Drop by to view current and permanent exhibits, including Bill Ferris's "Give My Poor Heart Ease," enjoy complimentary wine and cheese, take care of some holiday shopping with special sales in the Gift Shop, and be entertained by blues-jazz artist Dr. Alphonso Sanders, who will be performing Christmas tunes, both old and new.

Dr. Sanders is the Chair of Fine Arts and Director of the B.B. King Recording Studio at Mississippi Valley State University, where he is involved in archiving the music of Delta musicians. He continues to present music workshops and lectures, educating audiences on the culture of blues and jazz music.

One of his roles at MVSU is presenting a blues clinic for young musicians during the annual B.B. King Workshop. His new CD is "Mississippi Influences" (2009, Talking Wind Music), featuring Dr. Sanders performing original compositions on saxophone and lead vocals.

The Delta Blues Museum is located at #1 Blues Alley in Downtown Clarksdale. The museum is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call the museum at 662.627.6820.
