Delta Blues to open new exhibit, launches new educational programming on "The River and The Road to the Blues"
November 20, 2025
In January 2026, Delta Blues Museum will unveil a new collaborative project, "The River and The Road to the Blues," made possible by an FY25 grant received from the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area (MDNHA) as well as a promotional support grant from Visit Mississippi. Through a new traveling exhibit and interactive educational program online, "The River and The Road to the Blues" explores the impact the Mississippi River and Highway 61 had on Blues music. New - The River and The Road to The Blues
From Minnesota down to New Orleans, follow the Mississippi River and Highway 61 downstream in search of the blues through a series of state musician maps. Minnesota marks the beginning of the river and the road, leading to New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico. Each state and stop offers a unique look into the history of the blues.

Delta Blues Museum Hosts Military Families as a Blue Star Museum

Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival
- August, 2026
Almost as old as the Museum, the Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival is held at the start of every August right here in Clarksdale. This festival is so legendary, the Museum has it's own special exhibit area dedicated to the Sunflower Festival as well as a Sunflower Festival Chronology on the Museum's website. Delta Blues Museum Receives MAC Grant
August 12, 2025
Delta Blues Museum is the recipient of a $24,000 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC). This grant is a portion of the grants MAC awarded in Fiscal Year 2026 and will be used to support Museum operations over the course of the two-year grant period. MAC's operating grants are available specifically for arts-focused institutions as operating support to assist organizations in maintaining their financial stability, building their organizational capacity, improving their artist programs, and broadening their programs throughout the community. Museum Field Trips, Tours & More
The Museum was busy during 2021 creating Video Field Trips & Tours to further expand knowledge, preserve blues history and for your enjoyment. These videos feature different blues musicians and their experiences with various blues artists, as well as expanding upon our Explore & Learn series programs. Meanwhile, Clarksdale's very own Christone "Kingfish" Ingram has filmed a shout-out supporting the blues music genre. Watch Kingfish's Video
Trumpet Records Exhibit
We hope you were able to join us at our opening reception for the newly added traveling exhibit featuring the story of Trumpet Records and Lillian McMurry.
Music was performed during the reception by Libby Rae Watson. If you were unable to attend the event, stop by the museum for a tour, before this exhibit
starts "traveling".

MUSEUM HOURS
The Delta Blues Museum is open Monday through Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm. These hours are subject to change without notice.
The museum is also open on select days throughout the year for special programs or during festivals. Please check our home page for any special open/closure notices.
