Miss Sarah Moore of Sarah's Kitchen & Blues Club on
Sunflower Avenue in downtown Clarksdale was killed this
morning in an early morning traffic accident on Highway
61. |

certification in the Corporate Design, small budget, multimedia
category, by the Southeastern Museums Conference at their
annual meeting, held in Charleston, West Virginia. The current
site was designed by Quimby Vance of E.Q. Design, with site
mapping, copywriting and editing, and research by John Howell
of Greenland Inc. Site building was performed by the design
team at Verity Internet. |

The “Rhythm & Roots Invitation”, designed
by James Tootle, was awarded Honorable Mention in the Corporate
Design, small budget, invitations category. The Delta
Blues Museum Website, designed by EQ Design, Greenland Marketing,
and Verity Internet was awarded GOLD in the Corporate Design,
small budget, multimedia category. |

Willie "Rip" Butler, a local musician and member of the
Wesley Jefferson Southern Soul & Blues Band has recently
been hospitalized due to heart problems. After going to
the emergency room, he learned that two of his arteries
are 100% blocked and another one is 75% blocked. He is currently
at home until he is able to have heart surgery. It is uncertain
if he will be able to return to work. Cards and donations

Dorothy Moore will start a musical tour October 1, 2009 for eighteen
days. She will be performing dates with the David Gest My Life
Concert Extravaganza. Moore, best known for her song Misty Blue,
will join pop and soul artists like Russell Tompkins Jr. and the
New Stylistics, Percy Sledge, Billy Paul, Peabo Bryson, James
Ingram, Jean Knight, Deniece Williams, William Bell and others.

The Delta Blues Museum is saddened to announce the loss of the
legendary Sam Carr. Born Sam Lee McCollum, the son of Robert Lee
McCollum (the legendary slide guitar player Robert Nighthawk)
he was adopted by the Carr family at an early age. Sam is best
known for his longtime association with Frank Frost & the
Jelly Roll Kings. He was preceded in death last November by his
wife of sixty-seven years, Doris Carr. Sam was 83. |
Ticketing will only be done at the Main Stage. Tickets for this
year’s event will cost $5 a day and $10 for a three-day
pass. All other stages and areas of the festival, including vendors,
will be open to the general public. Tickets are available for
presale online and in Food Giant and Tobacco Warehouse stores
starting September 10. More
